Other As an international school teacher in Saudi Arabia, I want to bust a myth: Saudi Arabia, in my opinion, is not a hardship posting. Particularly, it is often portrayed as being extremely challenging for women, but some of the scare stories are inaccurate. For example, women can ride around in a taxi without a chaperone, and there are increasing numbers of women working in Saudi now. Indeed there are huge numbers of well-educated Saudi women completing university. The country is undoubtedly changing.

November 28, 3: Even if you have a dream job and you like living in your new country, you may feel lonely from time to time. If you are moving abroad with your family, the entire process of getting used to a new country will be less difficult. You will have your family with you and you will never feel alone. You will be there for each other at all times. However, if you are moving to a foreign country alone, this process can be a bit tricky. If your new country is much different from your home country, you will need even more time to get used to it.
In such situation, dating may seem very difficult. If you are in a foreigner-friendly country that has similar culture and customs to those of your home country, it will be much easier for you to make new friends. You will learn more about their culture, language and lifestyle. You are new to them, just like they are new to you. Dating Other Expats Dating another expat can be a good idea. You will certainly have at least one thing in common: You will be able to understand each other very well, and you will support each other, which is very important!

Some historians trace its founding to the tribe of Bani Quda’ah, who inhabited it after the collapse of Sad dam Ma’rib in BC.
Some believe that Jeddah had been inhabited before the tribe of Bani Quda’ah by fishermen in the Red Sea, who considered it a center from which they sailed out into the sea as well as a place for relaxation and well-being.

Share this article Share For three decades, Helen’s body had lain in a mortuary at Leeds General Infirmary – the longest time in British history that known human remains have been left unburied. During that time, her father, a former policeman, had refused to allow his daughter to be buried or cremated. Her body, he said, was potential evidence.
Helen’s remains would stay in the mortuary until he uncovered the truth of her tragic death. He would not budge; no matter how long it took or how distressing it was to Jeryl, from whom he’d split acrimoniously two years before Helen’s death. Helen’s body has been held in Leeds General Infirmary Morgue for 30 years Just this April, Ron, desperately frail and suffering from kidney disease that requires dialysis three times a week, vowed from his hospital bed: Ron rejected official reports that concluded the pair had tumbled to their deaths as they made love – a shocking event to have happened in a country where drinking is illegal and adultery a capital offence.
He made it his mission to prove his theory that Helen had been raped and murdered by a party guest and that Otten had died as he tried to stop it. He embarked on a campaign for a public inquiry into the death, citing inconsistencies in official reports. His demand for an inquest in Britain was initially refused by a coroner, but after a lengthy legal battle, the Court of Appeal ruled in his favour in – a decision that fundamentally changed the law covering the death of Britons abroad.
The inquest jury returned an open verdict, after hearing that Helen had suffered injuries inconsistent with a fall, but consistent with an assault before her death. Six post-mortem examinations revealed Helen had an unexplained bruise to the side of her head, a broken breastbone and bruises on the inside of her thighs. Ron Smith sensationally claimed that his daughter had been murdered and carried down to the street to make it look as if she’d fallen. However, every request to each successive Home Secretary for a public inquiry has met with the same negative response.

Expat Articles Moving to Riyadh A modern metropolis with skyscrapers that emerge from the desert like a mirage, the Saudi capital was once a small oasis settled for its palm trees and dates. Now, expats move to Riyadh to advance their careers in Saudi Arabia’s commercial hub. But expats are bound to experience some culture shock in Riyadh.
New arrivals often struggle to adjust to a restrictive social environment where alcohol is banned and there are no cinemas or nightclubs. Most Western expats live in residential compounds in the northern and eastern suburbs of Riyadh. In some of them, life is more liberal than the general situation might suggest.
Men and women socialise more freely in these neighbourhoods, clothing rules are more relaxed and women can drive. These self-contained developments have all the modern amenities expats might need, including shops, gyms, tennis courts and schools. Lower-level employees tend to live downtown. The biggest risk for expats is driving in Riyadh.

A few weeks ago the city municipality had arranged a historic festival to take place over a few nights so Mr EE and I decided to go down to investigate. Bait Naseef Due to the festival the traffic, typically horrendous on any evening, was truly atrocious and it took us over an hour to get down to the old town. We walked up the Souk Al Alawi historic path to the Mecca Gate, the route taking us through a rather modern looking underpass and into the centre of the old town proper.
There is a lot of reconstruction work going on in an attempt to preserve some of the more important historic buildings before they crumble into nothing. A lot of progress has been made in the year we have been here, however, and it is good to see the municipality looking to preserve rather than to build new. As part of the festival a beautiful vintage fire truck had been parked by the side of the square, I meant to get a photograph of it but decided to wait until we walked back.
A mistake that I now regret. Changing every few minutes from one pattern to the next the designs were quite mesmerising.

October Family Life Family is considered an extremely important foundation to society in Saudi Arabia. A typical family unit consists of grandparents, parents, children and siblings. This has begun to change in recent years, with many women choosing to have their own careers. For cultural reasons, men and women normally have separate living areas. Therefore, when invited to a local family home, you may not see the women at all during the visit.
If you are new to Saudi Arabia, you may find the way of life differs from that of your home country. For example, in Saudi Arabia, men have the right to have up to four wives, although this is not common practice any more.
